Jesus is God
The central claim of Christianity
Recovering the heart of the Christian confession.
Jesus Is God is a bold and thoughtful examination of the defining claim at the heart of the Christian faith—that Jesus Christ was not merely a prophet, teacher, or moral example, but God Himself revealed in human form. The book explores how this belief is not built on a single verse or church tradition, but woven throughout the words, actions, prophecies, and overarching story of Scripture.
The journey begins with the words of Jesus Himself. Rather than relying only on direct statements, the book carefully examines the language, claims, and implications of what Jesus said about Himself. From declaring authority to forgive sins, to identifying Himself with divine titles and eternal existence, the book explores why His listeners often reacted so strongly to His teachings. It asks a central question: did Jesus merely point people toward God, or did He present Himself as equal with God?
The book then turns to the signs of Jesus—His miracles, authority over nature, power over death, and ability to command what only God commands. These signs were not simply displays of compassion or supernatural ability; they pointed toward identity. Each miracle becomes part of a larger testimony that Jesus was revealing more than power—He was revealing divinity.
The prophetic dimension is also explored in depth. The book traces prophecies surrounding the Messiah throughout the Old Testament and examines how Jesus fulfilled them in ways both expected and surprising. It reflects on prophecies given by Jesus Himself regarding His death, resurrection, judgement, and kingdom, arguing that His life cannot be separated from the divine narrative unfolding across Scripture.
Finally, Jesus Is God examines what it calls 'the subtext of the Bible'—the deeper thread running from Genesis to Revelation. Through themes of sacrifice, covenant, kingship, redemption, and the presence of God among humanity, the book argues that the Bible consistently points toward Christ as its centrepiece. It presents Jesus not as a side character in Scripture, but as the fulfilment of its deepest story.
Rather than offering a purely academic defence, the book calls readers to confront the implications of this claim personally. If Jesus is truly God, then Christianity is not simply a philosophy to admire, but a truth that demands response, worship, and surrender.
